It seems like I haven't seen a lot of mini albums being done lately. Do you make mini albums? Do you keep them or give them away?April 21, 2014 at 7:19 pm #236721
I LOVE mini albums! But, I haven't completed one is a VERY long time. I have a lot of completed ones that just need to put pics in them. I never seem to want to take the time to print the smaller pics.
However, I am making one right now, and I am having a blast planning it out. 🙂April 21, 2014 at 7:30 pm #236722
They take so much time!!!!
I have several that I need to finish, lol. And I guess that's why I don't.
Do you remember the one that came with the October embellie kit? I did complete that one and gave it to my DIL without photographing it. She still has it on her coffee table for all to see, and that's such a nice thing!!!!April 21, 2014 at 7:38 pm #236723
I haven't finished one in a long time, I have a couple that i started, they were DT OTP projects so had to have part done for reveal and never had time to finish them. I think they are fun to make but never quite know what to put in them. A lot of them that I have seen made, i wonder if people really put photos in them.
"Some cars look like they're going fast when they're standing still. The Camaro looks like it's going to beat you unconscious, put you in a silly hat, invite a couple of other Camaros over to take photos of you, then e-mail them to all your friends and co-workers. Call me crazy, but I like that in a car."April 21, 2014 at 7:50 pm #236725
I've only made a couple of mini albums. I see so many gorgeous mini albums made but they have so many gorgeous embellishments etc that I don't really see space for photos to go in it or I wouldn't want to cover up the gorgeous pages with a photo.April 21, 2014 at 7:55 pm #236726
I have several that are read for photos, which I use for quick gifts as needed. I have 4 or 5 finished ones sitting on the coffeetable ni the living room. I enjoy them, but I need to have a reason to get one completed.April 21, 2014 at 8:07 pm #236727
I love making mini albums and have done a bunch of them. There is a cabinet above my bookshelf that is full of them. Some I give away, but many are stored away. I do mostly cards, tags, and mini albums, rather than layouts.April 21, 2014 at 9:32 pm #236728
As I teach mini-book workshops throughout the year I seem to be continually making them! There are lots of really easy little ones to make as well – remember Paulien made a vintage one a couple of years ago from a single 12 x 12 following a video by Tim Holtz. I make that one regularly!!April 21, 2014 at 10:12 pm #236729
I love making mini albums. I made 4 last year for each of my 4 grandsons, then completed a cute girly one this year for my new granddaughter. I have a cake in a mug mini recipe album in progress (5 of them, 1 for each of our children's families), and have 1 recipe mini album completed with a few of my favorite recipes in it. The kids are always asking for those.
Mine aren't as embellished as the really frilly, fancy ones I see, simply because of what others have said……where do you leave room for a photo? Mine are embellished but not so much that they're chunky, KWIM? When I make them, they're for using……adding photos and joualing along with mainly flat embellishments, except for the front cover and spine/binder.
Interesting subject Rae, glad you brought it up!April 21, 2014 at 11:52 pm #236730
I like making mini's, but as I said in a previous blog post of mine, my scrapping is like my reading, it ebbs and flows. At one time I was so mini obsessed I hadn't done a lo in a year! Now I find I need instant gratification that comes from a lo or card. I make them as gifts and I do put the pics in, especially for my mom who's in N.Y.

I really like minis but haven't made one since Christmas time. I like to make them to memorialize vacations and use ephemera that I saved from the trip. There are so many cool styles out there. I did a couple of the mini minis that are made from one piece of 12×12 and they were great fun and cute and tiny!April 22, 2014 at 2:33 am #236733
I do minis for specific events like an important birthday, road trips, concerts, etc. I have also done a Halloween one. I started liking single photo layouts, so when I have a lot of pictures I want to do from an event, the mini book is my go to solution. Here's some:
http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/396767/view/2326151/-1/600/2.html – this is an inside page of a sleepover for my dd birthday several years ago.
http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/396767/view/2552173/-1/560/2.html – an accordion album, the cover and matching gift box are in my SB.com gallery
http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/396767/view/2564255/-1/540/2.html – Disney album, which I think is probably my first good one. The inside pages are on SB.com
http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/396767/view/3041773/-1/360/2.html – Halloween mini
http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/396767/view/3274325/-1/280/2.html – Justin Bieber concert mini
http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/396767/view/3619019/-1/140/2.html – Scarpbook Treasure Hunt mini, each store we visited provided a Make n Take page kit
Wow, I had to look through my SB.com gallery to find these, I have some projects I was really happy with, some that did it quite hit the mark and some that are just plain crap:)April 22, 2014 at 7:54 am #236732April 22, 2014 at 9:42 pm #236734
I have made a few mini albums, mainly when I've a lot of photo's from one event or holiday to scrap and doing them on 12×12 layouts means I would need an extension to home them in! So mini albums are sometimes a much more practical option and they make a change to make. Funnily enough I've made a couple in the last few days after being inspired by my Mum who had made one at her class. I leave them out on a table for people to browse if interested and have given them as gifts, with photo's and ready for photo's, to be added by the recipient. They are like LO's, they can be as embellished as little or as much as you like, to your own personal style.April 22, 2014 at 11:51 pm #236735
I love mini albums. They make great gifts. This is one I did for my niece. I gave it to her with these pictures and left the rest of the room for her to add her own. G45 Typography was perfect for a mini with all its tags and sayings. I didn't go crazy embellishing it, because that's not really her style. You can see more pictures of the cover and tags, etc http://scrapbookersparadise.blogspot.ca/2013/12/wild-wednesday-typography-mini-album.html
I'm working on one right now that is called an Album in a Box with KC's Kaleidoscope papers. They are SO pretty. This one will be loaded up with flowers for sure!! Here's one of the papers.
