Anatomy-of-a-Layout by Camilla Ekman
This kit is absolutely one of my favs so far. I love the colours and all the embellishments, not to mention the technique kit that made me go a bit outside my comfort zone. And well…I'm going to stay outside!
First I chose a picture of my daughter. Since the colours were soft I didn't make it into b/w. I rounded the coers to make it a bit different. I almost always use a white border for my photos, since I think that it makes the photo pop.
I decided to make the background in the blue text paper and wanted to frame it. For that I used a brown and a cream cardstock from the cardstock add-on.
Before I glued on the blue paper I inked the edges with the colour chestnut roan.
I wanted to make a flow from left to right. But since I wasn't going to use patteed paper all the way I used the stamp from the kit to created the flow.
To brighten up the layout a bit and to not making it too square I cut out a piece of one of the BoBunny papers and used to the right.
The Dust Attic gate is such a beautiful item. I prepared it with a hint of orange just to make it pop a bit more. I am later going to use one more item prepared exactly the same way. You will find instructions in the tips and technique section of the board.
The photo is in place and to soften the transition between the photo and the gate I placed the Prima swirl to the left of the photo.
Now the actual design was made. Time to embellish. Flowers of course! To start I used the flower vine at the right bottom of the photo to balance the layout.
To make it more exciting, I put a couple of Petaloo flowers in different colours among the flowers in the vine. And the metal embellishments made a great addition.
Finally my prepared orange DA hinge had dried and I could put it into place. As you can see I put it to the right to spread out the orange.
The title is 12 and put among the flowers. And voilá…here is my page.April 5, 2011 at 7:24 am #100469
Gorgeous Camilla!!! Love the pop of orange on your DA pieces. SOOO many beautiful details!! Thanks so much for sharing.
"Some cars look like they're going fast when they're standing still. The Camaro looks like it's going to beat you unconscious, put you in a silly hat, invite a couple of other Camaros over to take photos of you, then e-mail them to all your friends and co-workers. Call me crazy, but I like that in a car."April 5, 2011 at 12:25 pm #100471
