Anatomy of a Layout using the Whimsy kit
      by Rae Moses

      [img:width=500&height=500]/wp-content/uploads/2014/1358895828_16_FT0_jan_2013_esd_eight_lo.jpg[/img]

First off, let me just apologize if the lighting is off on my pics. I scrap in the wee hours of the moing, so the lighting isn't perfect and the colors of the paper seem very dark, which you know they are not!

      Step One: Make Layers!!!! (Yep!)
Gut the purple (Lyrical) paper by cutting out a ten inch square. (If you haven't done this before, it's super easy: In your paper trimmer, set your paper as if you are going to cut off one inch, but set the blade at one inch on the slider scale BEFORE you set it down, then only push the blade to 11, then pick up the paper and repeat on the other three sides.) This is the base of the layout. Take the ten inch square and cut a one inch strip, and cut one inch off of that. Tued over, this will be the yellow/pink banner. I just cut the coers in to make the banner.
Next, gut the blue/purple (Magique) paper, this time cutting out an 8 inch square using the same tip above, this time on the 2s and 8s of your rules/guides. The 12X12 part is the second layer. Then cut up the 8X8 paper into the following pieces: 8X.75, 8X1.25, and a photo mat one inch larger than the measurements of your picture.

Cut the Aglow (flowery) paper into 2 1X12 strips and border punch them. I used Martha Stewart Vintage Lace. Then, cut a piece measuring 8.5X10.25, and use a punch around the page. I used Cherish.

Cut the Jouey (purple) into a 10X12 for the next layer.

      Step Two: Make die cuts
I used a Memory Box die, bow coer with the Jouey paper remnants, and Cheery Lynne fancy flourishes, small and medium using a 12X4 piece of the Fireflies paper.

Step Three: Distress Everything! Here are my three steps for distressing:
      1. Use the blending tool to apply distress ink. (Pumice Stone)
      2. Use the awesome Prima Distress Tool.
      3. Chalk ink the edges (Old Road)

Step Four: On the Jouey paper, make faux stitching.
      1. Use a rotary tool to make holes.
      2. Use a paper piercer in the holes.
      3. Trace with marker. SIMPLE!!!!

Step Five: Add the border strips.
Make cuts (like mitering in sewing) between each of the flower designs.

Step Five: Add the border strips.
Make cuts (like mitering in sewing) between each of the flower designs.

Then, glue the strips down to follow the distressed edges. If you don't heavily distress, you don't need to cut into the strip, but this way it allows you to keep the punched part even with the edge.
Also, I suggest using a glue runner and not liquid glue to adhere them because it may take a couple of minutes, and liquid glue may dry before you get the design right.

Step 6: Measure the banners and try to make them straight. Glue them together.

Step 7: Assemble the Layers: like this

Now, add the pic and photo mat, banners, joual card, and die cuts:

Decide how you want to arrange the flowers. I also painted the butterflies with the Silks paint from the kit, and added some of the butterfly rub ons, and a title, and called it a day, (or night).

Here is the finished layout again:

"Some cars look like they're going fast when they're standing still. The Camaro looks like it's going to beat you unconscious, put you in a silly hat, invite a couple of other Camaros over to take photos of you, then e-mail them to all your friends and co-workers. Call me crazy, but I like that in a car."
