Welcome to the August Card Challenge!
This month, the theme is “stitches”. You can use your sewing machine, or just a thread and needle to make your card. No thread or needle? No worries – why not take out your gel pen and use Swirly Member Rae’s faux stitches technique? Just as long as I see something having to do with stitches, it counts!!!
While the use of your Swirly stuff is encouraged (what a great way to use your leftovers!), it’s not a requirement; you may use whatever you have laying around. We only ask that you do not use materials from another kit club. And yes, you may enter as many times as you wish.
The challenge will run from the 1st through the last day of the month.
The winner each month with be chosen at random…..so even if you’re not an expert card maker you can still win. The winner with receive one of the cards that I have made for the month.

I’ve made a few cards to illustrate ways you can follow this month’s theme.
I’ve created a fancy-ish border with my sewing machine. How easy is this – and it was done in less than a minute!
Another quick and easy use of “stitches”: I simply ran the needle through the center of the pearls twice and left a good length of thread on either end.
Faux stitching – it looks so real! I used a tracing wheel to make the holes, then made my “stitches” with a gel pen. If you don’t own a tracing wheel, a craft pick or heavy needle will do the job. (Pssst!!! This card, featuring a garden fairy, is doing double duty! Check out this month’s ATF Challenge!)
I can’t wait to see all of the gorgeous cards that you make this month!!!!

Beautiful cards Peggy! I use to always do stitching on my cards but for some reason I stopped doing this, I must try this out again for this challenge.

Here are a couple more cards that may not qualify for this challenge as I made them a few years ago. I just wanted to show how I use to always do my stitching as well as doing the inside of my cards. Now I just leave thm blank inside.
