Those of us who went to Swirlycamp this year were treated to some awesome projects and some amazing work was done on them. Anyone want to show your cigar boxes and/or mini-album covers?
Here is my mini-album cover from the fun class Rae taught:

Patty, that's a great idea!
I'm faced with a lot of overcast today (not complaining, the heat wave finally broke), but I'll try to take pics over the weekend.
Meantime, I love how yours came out! Love the colors, the texture, the trim and the little mini-you 🙂 !!!!!!July 26, 2013 at 12:33 am #215636
Great idea Patty. I'm packing for this weekend but I can enjoy what y'all post here throughout the weekend and share mine on Monday.
"Some cars look like they're going fast when they're standing still. The Camaro looks like it's going to beat you unconscious, put you in a silly hat, invite a couple of other Camaros over to take photos of you, then e-mail them to all your friends and co-workers. Call me crazy, but I like that in a car."July 29, 2013 at 11:43 pm #215639
Patty, I realized this moing that I promised to upload my projects.
Sorry about the delay and sorrier about the not-so-great images….
Patty mentioned that Krissy bought a bunch of (real) cigar boxes, plus a ton of paper and flowers and other goodies to play with. Here's what I came up with:
I bought some blue craft paint while hip-checking at M's to cover the sides and used bits of the paper that Krissy supplied to create a collage. The book paper was the real inspiration behind what I decided to do: Kim bought a couple of old books for us to use and one of them was from the Reader's Digest condensed series (do they do that any more?). I loved the colors and images that went so well with, well, you'll see…
Here's the top, with layers of paper, book page and a note card all topped with a Prima frame, a trinket from my stash, pearls and flower found during the above hip-checking trip and berries that Kathi and I shared from our Hobby Lobby haul.
One of the sides, with a bit of patteed paper and don't you love the book page image?
And here's the reason that I selected this particular cigar box: isn't that image fantastic????? I simply painted around it to blend with the rest of the exposed wood and went to work on the rest of the box!

Patty mentioned that Rae taught a mini album class. We got the front and back covers done there; mine is still out and ready to be finished with pictures from Camp.
The bricks are made with puffy paint and the metal coers and frame are actually resin pieces covered with black gesso and Inca Gold.
I added the title later. It's a trinket from the Hip Check trip, altered with the same Inca Gold.

I never took a pic of the album! I need to do that. Not today- it's dark out and cooooold. It makes me GRUMPY. It's summer and the high was 65. (Suck it, Mother Nature.) I did take a few pics of my box with my phone. I bequeathed it to Miss Mary Kim at the Paper Doll House. I need to find those.July 30, 2013 at 12:00 am #215642

Here's my cigar box from camp. I chose a semi plain box so my embellies would be the focal point and not the shape of the box itself.
Here's a better shot of the top.
Here's an extreme closeup of the side to show the texture and paper undeeath.

Here is my cigar box. I used some beautiful Maja papers for it.

Here are mine.
The cigar box I love until I started messing with it and then I hated it….but I kept trying this and trying that until finally came up with something I was okay with thankfully because I would have hated to think I ruined that gorgeous box.
