Alright ladies (Peggy and Jackie that is) I listened to your great idea's to use some summery colors and here's what I've come up with.

    26june.jpg

For this card I started with making my lavender flower.

    1-16.jpg

Take a wide strip organza or voile (I took 2.75 x 48 inches) and fold it that many times double, till you have 16 layers. Cut 4 different sizes of petals out of your folded fabric.

    2-15.jpg

Take a tealight-candle and carefully melt the edges of your petals. I hold my petals 1/4 inch away from the flame.

    3-15.jpg

cut a (not so perfect) circle out of cardstock, and start building your flower, using the biggest petals first.
    I layered 2 at a time.

    4-15.jpg

keep adding your petals until you have build your first layer.

    5-13.jpg

repeat the previous steps with all your petals. The little ones are of course the last ones you'll add. Till it looks something like this. I'll add my centre of the flower later.

    6-14.jpg

I cut a piece of white cardstock for my background.

    7-14.jpg

I took my brick wall stencil and some Gesso to create the background.

    8-13.jpg

I added some color using Distress ink (salty ocean) mixed with water to the top and a lighter color for the bottom of my card. After it dried I took a damp cloth and wiped the color off of the Gesso.

    9-13.jpg

I added some white Puffy Paint to my bricks, for extra dimension.

    10-10.jpg

I then took my ribbled (cookie wrap) paper and added Gesso. After it dried I gave it some color with Distress inks.

    11-13.jpg

I gathered my flowers, and a left over piece of doily. Colored flowers and leaves where needed.

    12-13.jpg

I glued the ribbled paper down. Mounted it with a piece of cardboard. Then I glued my doily on top of that.

    13-13.jpg

I glued my flowers, leaves and lace down, using my hot glue gun.

    14-12.jpg

I wrote my sentiment on a small strip of paper with I gave some color using Distress ink (victorian velvet)

    bottomright600.jpg

for the finishing touch I glued a few tiny pearls down.

    And here's my finished card:

    The rules for this challenge……..

Create a card using the colors:

    * pink – lavender – blue – green – yellowish

    * use a handmade flower (fabric – optional)

    * handwrite your sentiment.

I can't wait to see what you all are coming up with.

Just gorgeous Paulien – and I love that lavender flower. I will certainly be having a go sometime.

I will be saying goodbye for the next six/seven weeks as I shall be sailing in our boat on the west coast of Scotland amongst the islands. But I will catch up with all these wonderful projects when I get back!

Have a lovely summer everyone x
