Watercolors…what do you think of them? Have you used them? If so, share your favorite project.

Is there something you want to try or learn with them?

I loved the Prima Metallics we just got and that watercolor panel was amazing for taking up the water. Loved that project add on.

I have a few watercolour paints and pencils but I never use them very much 🙁 The main watercolor product I use are gelatos….I love them for colouring Chipboard.

I wish I had time to colour in the adult colouring books with watercolour pencils, they always look so pretty.

I like the watercolors. I have the Prima confections and metallic ones. They are really fun to play with and experimenting with backgrounds.

I used them on this project and I won the Prima PPP. 🙂

I have some cheap ones that I bought years ago, as well as some pencils. I’ve always used them for coloring and now I’m seeing you all using them for backgrounds and I have to admit that I’m intrigued!!!
I tried that with Gelatos some time back with mixed results; for some reason, I never have luck with them. I think I’m just too heavy handed or something.
Anyway, I do think that it’s time to give it all another try.

                Beautiful, Rae.

What did you not like with your Gelato work, Peggy?

Haven’t picked it up in years…hmmm maybe time to play again.

Jan, like I said, I think I was too heavy handed. I remember spreading them across and then trying to blend them, but I just didn’t like the results for some reason. I also tried using them to color chipboard, and it just didn’t turn out like I expected.
Anyway, I see you, Kim and Ginny using the Prima panels. Are they any different from a regular canvas? If so, how?
I love the backgrounds that you’ve been creating…

Peggy to get gelatos to colour chipboard well its best to white gesso the chipboard first then you’ll get a nice strong colour. Plus blend them with your finger, no water needed.

Peggy, the Prima panels are different. They are made from watercolor paper. They are made specifically for the watercolors as they hold up well to the water and allow you to spread the colors. Hope that makes sense.

I have loved the gelatos for chippies. And, like Bec said-just rub it in with your finger-no water.

The watercolor panels are amazing for the watercolor canvases. Like Kim said, they withstand the water. They can buckle up while wet but will dry back flat. Really better for moving color around than a regular canvas. I want more of them!

Thanks, ladies. I do have a lot of watercolor paper; I think I’ll try something with that.
